"Surely such a wedding in the Seychelles is sinfully expensive!"
Over and over again I am confronted with this assumption, and the appropriate answer: No, it is not! Let me give you some numbers:
Flights from Germany range from 550 euros (Ethiopian Airlines) to about 1,000 euros per person (Emirates, e.g. over Christmas), depending on the season and the airline. For Condor (non-stop flight from Frankfurt/Main) the annual average is around 800 Euro (return together, of course!) and for Emirates (daily flights with a short stopover in Dubai from all major German airports!) the annual average is around 850 Euro for the return flight together.
Accommodation in the Seychelles is available from around 30 euros per person upwards. And these are then by no means bad accommodations! For those who want to invest a little (or even significantly) more, there are of course hotel rooms that cost 100 or 500 or even 2,500 euros per person per night. For example on the absolute dream island Fregate Island Private even the most unusual wishes come true!
"But the actual wedding ceremony must have cost an absolute fortune! the beautiful surroundings must surely be paid for, and then everything has to be brought to the beach and decorated in a great and fresh way - that must be very expensive!" No, it isn't.
The absolute basic package is only 590 Euro.
For example, the wedding ceremony of Carmen and Dennis (see photos below) with all the trimmings (decoration, bridal bouquet, flower pin for the groom, wedding cake, color concept [of course everything exactly according to the wishes of the bridal couple! the fresh coconut-cocktails, pick up of the bridal couple at the hotel and later at the desired time back again (both routes with the environmentally friendly electric car), presence of the registrar as well as two super nice, local witnesses, handling of the paperwork before and after the wedding [the wedding couple does not have to worry about anything in advance; all this is done by "my" wedding planner on site!], handling of all formalities at the registry office, handing over of the apostille in the bridal couple's hotel) would cost 885,- Euro (as of August 2020). As said before: including everything. Depending on what extra wishes you might have (e.g. the services of a hairdresser/visagist, the candlelight dinner on the beach etc.) you should plan a little more. Most couples like to treat themselves to a little luxury at their wedding and the average price is about 1.100 Euro, which they invest in "my" wedding planner including all additional services.
So you see: A wedding in the Seychelles is not an expensive pleasure. Most couples who inquire with me expect at least 1.500 to 2.000 Euro for the actual ceremony. And who knows - if you get the wrong wedding planner or a "wedding agency" is interposed (of which the bridal couple usually doesn't even notice anything), you will probably get rid of this amount.
The biggest cost factor is probably the accommodation, because most couples want to treat themselves to a particularly beautiful and luxurious hotel for their wedding (on my favorite island La Digue, for example, Le Domaine de L'Orangeraie is the choice of most bridal couples). But if you are satisfied with a simpler accommodation and a pizza or one of the tasty meals from the "takeaway" restaurants is enough for you in the evening, a 14-day honeymoon including the wedding can be realized for 2.500 Euro per person! The photographer is of course not included in this price.
Conclusion: The statement that the costs for a wedding in the Seychelles would exceed the budget of every "normal mortal" and that a wedding in the Seychelles is therefore only something for "rich" is fundamentally wrong. If you calculate the total costs of a wedding in Germany, Austria or Switzerland, a wedding in the Seychelles is many times cheaper than a wedding at home! But also millionaires will find plenty of possibilities to get rid of their savings in Seychelles... 😉
