Paul van Frank studied law and also graduated with distinction in business economics and public relations. He began his career in the hotel industry on the Caribbean island of Antigua, West Indies, before moving to St. Lucia. The Belgian took up his first position as General Manager at the Fort Young Hotel on Dominica in the eastern Caribbean. He then moved to the Renaissance Resort in Aruba, where he stayed for three years and was responsible for the opening. Then van Frank returned to Antigua until 1995, leaving the West Indies for good after a total of eleven years to go to Istanbul for four years. There he started as General Manager before working as Managing Director for the renowned Kemer Golf & Country Club. From there he moved to the Begawan Giri Estate in Bali, which under his leadership received the 'Best of the Best' award from the readers of the English travel magazine Condé Nast Traveller. van Frank took his next position in
