Every year since 1999, a small but select group of Seychelles fans have been coming together once a year for the Seychelles get-together. Everyone (!) who is interested in the Seychelles is cordially invited – regardless of whether they have ever been to the Seychelles or “only dream about it”… 🙂
The date for the 2017 meeting: Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 2:00 pm! The “hard core” will probably arrive on Friday and turn night into day. That’s why we don’t start until around 2 pm on Saturday… 😉
So far, the meetings have always taken place in Düsseldorf – but traditions are there to be broken:
In August 2017, we won’t be meeting in Düsseldorf, but in my home town of 46499 Hamminkeln-Dingden! We have a really nice recreation area/recreational area with a large lake in the center on the outskirts of our small town of 7,000 people. Info: Dingdener Heide recreation area
The meeting takes place in the middle of beautiful nature and those who wish can swim in the lake. There is a children’s playground, volleyball/football facilities, a boules court, electricity connections, well-kept showers and toilets, a restaurant, great walks through the woods and the “Dingdener Heide” nature reserve, barbecue areas, fire pits – in short: everything we didn’t have in Düsseldorf before. In this video you can see the meeting point from 0:45: Video
You can camp around the lake at very reasonable prices or come by motorhome/caravan or even spend the night in one of the floating tents (!) between the trees. For those who prefer a “real bed”, there is a nice middle-class hotel less than three kilometers away: Hotel Hoffmann
If you would like to have it particularly inexpensive, have a look at Gasthof Buschmann (about 5 km from the meeting point) and for those who like it more comfortable, the Hotel Residenz (around 8 km from the meeting point). Various shopping facilities (REWE, Norma, various bakeries/pizzerias/snack bars) are just under two kilometers from the meeting point.
I see: Where this DINGDEN is actually located? In western NRW, right on the border between Münsterland and the Lower Rhine. Around 45 minutes from the center of the Ruhr area and only 15 minutes from the Dutch border! Please click on the small graphic below. This then enlarges and you can see where this legendary Dingden is located… 🙂
We bring a small kettle grill that everyone is welcome to use. Also charcoal. There will be an opportunity to purchase the delicious, dark Takamaka rum (“Takamaka Spiced”) on site!
Ideally, bring the following utensils with you:
a place to sit (folding chair, beer crate or whatever) If applicable, your overnight accommodation (tent, caravan, sleeping bag, …) Sunscreen + swimming trunks! 🙂 a barbecue (ours is really tiny) Grilled meat or similar. Drinks (no cooling facilities on site, therefore cool bag or similar if necessary) Glasses/mugs Tableware + cutlery Bin liners
Of course, it would be great if we could find volunteers to contribute a salad or something similar. Once again, we’ll be bringing the extra-delicious tzatziki, Sabrina’s famous pasta salad and curry ketchup. You are welcome to contribute anything else (other salads, barbecue sauces, bread etc.)!
Please register by e-mail by August 20, 2017 at the latest so that we know how many people will be attending! And please let me know what you will be contributing. It would be silly if there were 23 sausage salads afterwards, but not a single potato salad… 😉
Feel free to contact us at any time if you need further information.
