Diamonds are a girl’s best friend – this confession once uttered by Marilyn Monroe is still very popular today. If you want to bring the stars out of the sky for your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day 2011, you can do so at the luxury resort Frégate Island Private in the Seychelles. South African diamonds adorn this exclusive dessert, the unique creation of which was penned by head pastry chef André Barbe. The garnish for the delicious chocolate cake, worth over five million US dollars, comes from one of the world’s leading diamond cutters, Rosy Blue. No fewer than 929 diamonds, weighing a total of 151.92 carats, adorn the Valentine’s Day dessert, including seven special stones weighing between 5.05 and 9.04 carats.

For the woman who already has everything
The perfect Valentine’s Day gift for the woman who apparently already has everything… the diamond-studded dessert is available at a price of around 5,310,000 US dollars, which is roughly equivalent to four million euros. The prize includes two First Class flight tickets with Emirates Airlines to the Seychelles – regardless of the departure airport – as well as a week’s full board for two people on Frégate Island Private. The millionaire who whisks his lady of the heart away to this tropical paradise is then spoiled for choice as to which of the picturesque postcard motifs he would like his dessert presented in front of.

Flawless diamonds
Among the diamonds, certified by the independent Gemological Institute of America, is a very special stone that alone is worth more than one million US dollars. The flawless, round brilliant-cut diamond defined with IF has 8.04 carats in color class D, i.e. high-purity white. Two other particularly beautiful diamonds weigh 7.05 and 6.63 carats, while the largest, at 9.04 carats, has a clarity of VVS1, which means that inclusions are difficult to detect even at ten times magnification.

The granite island of Frégate Island Private is a 20-minute flight from Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles. 16 guest villas are nestled in the tropical vegetation, hidden from view. In the interior of the island is a nature reserve with a wide variety of native flora and fauna. In addition to its own marina, the resort offers two restaurants, the Pirate Bar and the Beach Bar, the Rock Spa and seven private beaches. Bookings can be made directly through Frégate Island Private’s worldwide sales and reservations office at reservations@fregate.com.
