“Getting married in the Seychelles”-News # 027: Air Seychelles offers colorful art exhibition above the clouds

What a lot there is!

Passengers currently flying to Mahé with Air Seychelles from Paris, Rome, Milan or London can look forward to a special highlight. For the first time, paintings by a local artist will be shown on board the B767 long-haul aircraft. In addition, Air Seychelles is revamping its fleet for regional and domestic routes and has put a brand new Twin Otter into service.

With Air Seychelles, the typical Creole flair doesn’t just begin on the islands, but already during the flight. The national airline of the Seychelles is currently supporting the local artist George Camille and is showing four of his works on board the Boeing B767 fleet carrying passengers from Europe to Mahé. The pictures on display visually distinguish between Economy and Pearl Class (Business Class). In addition, the Camille images also adorn the current Pearl Class menu cards on Air Seychelles’ international flights. With this pilot project, the renowned airline wants to promote the cultural and scenic diversity of the Seychelles in a special way and invites other artists to join in.

George Camille has been deeply rooted in the island paradise of the Seychelles since his birth on Mahé. To date, he has opened several studios and galleries of his own and organized numerous exhibitions. The painter does not follow clear lines in his works, but rather places the process and cycle of life and nature at the center of his works. Camille derives his style – captured in acrylic or watercolors – from the natural forms and colors of nature in the Seychelles.
Brand new Twin Otter in flight operation

Air Seychelles has expanded its fleet for regional flight operations and recently put a brand-new Twin Otter into operation. The DHC6-400 aircraft is now flying under the name “Isle of Curieuse” and is the first aircraft with a new livery. In future, all aircraft used on regional flights will be designed in different colors to reflect the Creole flair of the island paradise. With the new Twin Otter, produced in Canada by Viking Air, the regional fleet will grow to four aircraft.

Passengers from Germany can fly to Mahé either via Paris, London, Rome or Milan. For the connecting flight via Paris, passengers can use Air France’s feeder services from Berlin (Tegel), Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich and Stuttgart. From Paris, Air Seychelles brings travelers to Mahé five days a week (except Tuesday and Thursday). From London, travelers fly to Mahé on Fridays (via Milan) and Saturdays (via Rome). Passengers wishing to use the route via Italy can make use of Alitalia’s feeder services from Germany. Air Seychelles flies via Rome every Monday and Sunday and via Milan every Monday and Friday to the dreamlike island paradise.
