Franzi and Sascha are the very first couple to whom I sent a few questions by e-mail after their wedding in the Seychelles, asking them to answer them on occasion. As the answers are certainly also interesting for couples planning their wedding in the Seychelles, I don’t want to withhold the questions and answers from you! Let’s go! 🙂
We wanted to say “I do” in a very special place without any hustle and bustle or stress. In our search for this special place, we came across several possibilities. The Seychelles particularly caught our eye thanks to Torsten’s photos. The panorama and the extremely nice first contact with Torsten, who was able to allay many of our concerns, contributed greatly to our decision in favor of the Seychelles. He also told us that a wedding in the Seychelles is easily recognized in Germany, which gave us the final impetus to get married there. The costs were also lower than we had expected. We would probably have spent even more at a wedding at home, but we wouldn’t have been able to collect such wonderful impressions and memories.
Our wedding was more beautiful than we ever imagined! After we got dressed up separately, Torsten arranged our first meeting in our wedding outfits so that we both had a wonderful surprise experience before heading to Grand Anse, the beach we had chosen for our ceremony.
Our wedding planner picked us up from our accommodation and we were taken to our destination. On the way, we were congratulated and cheered by many locals.
Everything was already prepared on the beach: The decorations were set up just as we had wished. The registrar and a musician gave us a friendly welcome and we were ready to go. Torsten got started straight away and took the first photos. Fortunately, he had his family with him, so we even had a very sweet flower girl with his four-year-old daughter, who decorated the way to the “wedding table” with flowers, accompanied by music from the guitarist.
The wedding ceremony was conducted in easy-to-understand English with lots of beautiful pictures and moments. After the ceremony, we toasted our new happiness with a bottle of sparkling wine brought by the wedding planner. During the whole time, Torsten has already taken many pictures, of which we have hardly noticed anything.
Then we started our photo shoot. After Torsten had taken some pictures on our wedding beach, we changed into comfortable clothes and made our way to Anse Cocos. We climbed with bag and baggage through the jungle and over small rocks. That alone was worth the experience.
When we arrived at Anse Cocos, our photographer led us up an imposing granite rock. Once at the top, we got back into our wedding outfits while Torsten waited downstairs. There we were able to take more wonderful photos and also contribute our ideas. Unfortunately, it started to rain after a while and we had to cancel the shoot. However, happy and blessed by the rain, we made our way back.
In the evening, our wedding planner prepared a barbecue for us right on the beach, where we enjoyed a great meal of local specialties with a view of the sunset together with Torsten and his family.
Through our wedding planner, who was recommended by Torsten, it was very easy to get married in the Seychelles. We sent him our passports and international birth certificates by e-mail in advance and he took care of everything else. We took the originals with us as a precaution, but they were no longer needed on site.
Since a wedding in the Seychelles is also recognized here in Germany (as long as the apostille is on the wedding certificate), the registration at the registry office in Germany was also unproblematic and quickly completed.
We communicated with him in English by email before the start of the trip. We were able to tell him all our wishes in advance, and he was also able to make last-minute changes (2 days before the wedding) without any problems. It met and even exceeded all our expectations!
We realized relatively quickly that we didn’t want to get married in our home country, but somewhere else, somewhere very special. While searching for the perfect place, we came across Torsten’s website via YouTube. After our first contact by e-mail, we already received a very positive impression of Torsten. Shortly afterwards, we met in person at his office to get to know each other better. The chemistry was right from the start and we knew after the interview that Torsten should be our photographer. He quickly won us over with his warm and funny manner.
First of all, the most important question: We LOVE the pictures! Torsten knows how to capture every moment in such a way that you get goose bumps when you look at the pictures. All our friends and relatives were also blown away by the pictures!
Why were we allowed to spend four days with Torsten instead of just three? Because we didn’t want to part with Torsten and vice versa 🙂 Joking aside – unfortunately we had a lot of bad luck with the weather during the three days we had booked. Unusually, it rained a lot at the end of April, so it wasn’t possible to take beautiful photos all day.
During the three days we had booked, we were able to visit a few spots and take photos, but not to our satisfaction and certainly not to Torsten’s satisfaction. Torsten was only really satisfied when we were also completely satisfied.
Since Torsten combined our shoot with a vacation with his family, he had planned more time than would have been necessary for our wedding pictures anyway. Unfortunately, we left the island of La Digue earlier than he did and spent a few more days on the main island of Mahe. However, Torsten also came to Mahe shortly after us and, as we were so unlucky with the weather, offered us another day to drive around many spots on Mahe in a rental car and do another full-day shoot free of charge. So many beautiful photos were taken there that we ended up with a huge repertoire of pictures. Thanks again for that!
It’s difficult to say, because the Seychelles are simply a dream setting and there are just so many beautiful places!
The wedding ceremony itself was a wonderful experience. However, we also had a really great experience on Mahe that gave us goosebumps:
We wanted to take photos in front of an old building on a main road. However, we were afraid that this would hardly be possible due to the traffic. When we got into position and Torsten positioned himself on the other side of the road to get started and wait for the moment when he could take photos between the cars, the locals blocked the road with their cars and gave a honking concert with cheers in our honor.
One of our most beautiful pictures was taken here. Presumably also due to the situation. Anyway, this picture now hangs in XXXXXL format in our living room in Düsseldorf and reminds us every day of our fantastic time in the Seychelles!
During our stay on La Digue we were accommodated at “Domaine les Rochers”. The whole area and our apartment were very nicely decorated. Our host provided us with little treats such as fresh fruit, a personal introduction to the island of La Digue and delicious coconut water. He also arranged bicycles for us and gave us other tips about the island. Here is a very clear recommendation!
In addition to La Digue, we were also on Mahe and took a day trip to Big Sister Island. La Digue was our clear favorite, as you can travel here as a tourist without cars, the people were all very friendly and you could be alone on the beaches. It wasn’t really crowded anywhere on La Digue.
Mahe, on the other hand, is, at least where we were (Beau Vallon), a bit more crowded. On the other hand, you can still experience something there in the evening – if you want to. Especially at the weekend. Many locals are then drawn to the beach and a market with music and many national specialties invites you to linger.
Big Sister Island is a very small island with no infrastructure off the coast of La Digue, which has a beautiful beach. Definitely worth a trip!
We would and will definitely come to the Seychelles again! What we do differently! We would love to get in touch with the locals more and simply let the calm nature and serenity of the Seychellois rub off on us 😉
Don’t worry so much! We drove ourselves crazy and everything worked out even better than we could have imagined. Photographer and wedding planner are a great team and make (almost) everything possible. You can’t influence the weather, but even when it rains, the islands are a dream!
Torsten – seriously? This question? Hmm… All right! 😉 You should just get to know him! He is simply the BEST! The pictures speak for themselves, or rather for him. If you want an all-round carefree package, Torsten is the right person for you. THANK YOU for EVERYTHING!
