On the morning of March 8 – I was out and about in the jungle of La Digue – I received the following message via WhatsApp:
“Hello Mr. Dickmann, I urgently need your help. We had planned our wedding in the Seychelles for next week. Unfortunately, there were big problems with the German agency in the Seychelles and we had to cancel the wedding at short notice. But we would still like to get married in the Seychelles. We are coming to the Seychelles next weekend and will stay until March 26. Is it somehow still possible to get married with her help? My nerves are really on edge at the moment! I would be very pleased to receive your feedback. LG Julia”
Together with her fiancé Andy and eight friends, Julia traveled to the Seychelles on a catamaran. After I told her that I would be happy to help at such short notice, but could only offer March 24 as the only day off, the ten fun-loving Bavarians completely overturned their previous plans and planned the big day for March 24.
You can see from the following questionnaire that everything went smoothly despite the short notice of the request (16 days before the wedding!). Enjoy reading and looking at the pictures!
We wanted the wedding to be our day. No family members who know everything better, no discussions about who to invite – just a relaxed wedding.
It wasn’t complicated at all. The only thing we had to get in advance was the international birth certificate, which we forwarded via WhatsApp. That was all. No paperwork, everything is very relaxed.
It was simply a wonderful and perfect day. Our expectations were more than exceeded. At this point, a big thank you to Torsten, who made the wedding “our day”. It’s difficult to put into words, but the Rosamunde Pilcher series could have learned a thing or two from the setting and the romance factor!
We flew with Condor from Munich to Frankfurt and on to Mahé. However, I would no longer recommend any German airline for long-haul flights (very poor service and entertainment). The wedding dress was stowed in a garment bag in the suitcase. Due to the high air humidity, the wrinkles that had formed had quickly become unstuck.
As mentioned above, it was simply “our day”. Everything was just perfect all round.
The ceremony was in English and was completed after a few minutes. The backdrop where we were married (Grand Anse Beach) was indescribably beautiful. Since we got married at 9:15 am, we had the beach all to ourselves (and our 8 friends). After the official part, there were coconut cocktails with Takamaka rum. We enjoyed the still deserted beach, dancing in the white sand with our friends. Torsten recorded everything, of course. At around 10:30 a.m., we set off with Torsten to various locations for the photo shoot. Shortly after midday, we parted ways and went for lunch, enjoying our time together. As it was already getting very hot in our outfits, our friends picked us up at the harbor with the cat. While we were away, our friends had decorated the cathedral with flowers and balloons. So the surrounding cats also knew what was going on here today.
We jumped into the water with a Campari orange. It all felt like a dream that we had just experienced. We spent the hours relaxing like this until we met up with Torsten again at 5 pm for the sundowner shoot. We climbed rocks, enjoyed the sunset and Torsten, as always, captured everything. We were already beaming all day anyway, but what happened after the shoot left us both (no, all 10 people) speechless. The wedding planner had outdone himself. There was a long white board on the beach. Set in white (white tablecloth, white chair covers). There were fairy lights and torches around the table, with the sea behind it. Not to be outdone in terms of romance. Various local specialties were grilled for us and side dishes were served. The mango salad was delicious. The dessert was with passion fruit (we don’t remember what exactly, but it was just as excellent). After dinner, it was party time. Some of the locals watched our spectacle as we played the guitar with palm leaves, used the beach as a dance floor and ran into the water to cool off in between. It was the perfect beach party for the perfect day! We always wanted it to be our day, and it definitely was!!!
We only came across Torsten shortly before our wedding via youtube through the travel show “Wunderschön”. We’ve been following him on Instagram ever since. Pictures say more than words!
The trip with our 8 friends began on Mahé. There we moved into our catamaran for 2 wonderful vacation weeks incl. Dream wedding. We sailed around the 3 main islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue. We also looked at small islands. But the most beautiful island of the three was La Digue. A green island with happy inhabitants.
We / all 10 of us will definitely come back to the Seychelles. There is still a lot to sail there…
The question should not be why? But WHEN…
Recommendation: Do it! No wedding in Germany will be as relaxed and beautiful as here.
Check reviews/ratings before you book someone (before we came to Torsten, we had booked with another German photographer and wedding planner who got really rude a few weeks before the planned wedding when we refused to sneak illegal things into the Seychelles for him!)
It’s best not to make the same mistake we did. Just take Torsten as your photographer and wedding planner and it will be wonderful!!! Thanks again for everything!
Torsten we can’t thank you enough! Everything was perfect. Your service, your commitment, your incredible pictures – simply everything!
As the saying goes, when a door closes….. Then you came and made it a dream wedding! Viiiiiiiiieeeeeeellleennnnn Thanks again!!!!!!
