The Waldorf Astoria on Platte Island is the newest luxury resort in the Seychelles. It was only opened in March 2024 and is one of the most luxurious island resorts in the Indian Ocean.
Michaela and Stephan Reisser – the owners of the Reisser travel agency, which has been specializing in luxury trips to the Indian Ocean and authentic safaris in Africa since 2012 – were among the first guests of the brand new island resort and were kind enough to provide me with the photos they took there. All the photos you see in this post were taken by Michaela and Stephan Reisser (apart from the wedding photos, which were all taken by me).
At first glance, Platte Island looks very similar to many islands in the Maldives, as Platte Island is also a coral island and has the typical flat shape of many Maldives islands.
Approximately in the middle of Platte Island is the runway of the island, which is about 1,500 meters long and only about 500 meters wide, where every plane lands that brings guests to the island or brings well-rested guests back to the main island of Mahé after their vacation on Platte Island within about 25 minutes by plane.
Six restaurants and bars, top international chefs and an outstanding spa are available to guests of the 50 detached villas, each of which has its own pool.
Sea turtles, dolphins, manta rays, whale sharks and hundreds of species of fish in the coral reefs around the island’s white beaches, as well as a variety of native birds on the island, make the Waldorf Astoria Seychelles Platte Island an exceptional paradise for nature lovers and divers.
