Steffi and Marcel from Siek near Hamburg got married on May 18, 2023 on La Digue and had booked me as their wedding photographer for the day.
If you’re so lucky with the weather on your wedding day, just one day of photography is enough to get lots of great pictures. Photographing on different islands is unfortunately out of the question in just one day – but La Digue in particular offers so many great photo backdrops that I was able to send them a whopping 226 pictures as output.
After the trip, I sent them my questionnaire. Enjoy reading their answers!
Before we even planned to get married, the trip to the Seychelles was booked. Since I (Steffi) wanted to get married on the beach, we decided to make our wish come true on our next vacation in the Seychelles.
We flew with Emirates via Dubai. I (Steffi) registered the wedding dress + suit online beforehand via the customer hotline, so that it was no problem to take it along in the garment bag as hand luggage. When boarding, I handed the dress to the stewardess, who then hung it up in a cupboard.
Our wedding was an absolute dream! It started with the stylist dropping by our accommodation at 6.30am on the wedding day to get me (Steffi) ready. First the hair, then the make-up. Marcel got ready on his own before he was picked up at 8.15 am. I was collected separately a quarter of an hour later, as the first look was to take place on the beach. Full of excitement, we set off in a small golf cart towards Grand Anse, our chosen beach for the wedding ceremony. The journey from the accommodation took about 15-20 minutes. Once we arrived at the beach, we had our first look, made our way to the “altar” and then the wedding ceremony began. After we said yes to each other, we got our delicious drinks, mango juice served in a coconut, to toast our wedding.
We then started to take the photos with Torsten. First at Grand Anse, where we also had a photo taken with our own drone, then on to many different places on La Digue. Sometimes the spots were easy to reach, sometimes I (Steffi) had to overcome my fear of heights to climb the unique rocks. After the sunset shoot, we went to Anse Severe, where we had a delicious dinner. It was an all-round successful day with many unique memories.
No, it wasn’t complicated to get married in the Seychelles. For the wedding, the registrar needed a scanned copy of both of our passports, an international birth certificate and a certificate of no impediment to marriage. An identity card, an extract from the register of births and an extended registration certificate are required to obtain the certificate of no impediment to marriage.
Depending on the registry office, sending the international birth certificate and the extract from the birth register may take some time.
The day went off without a hitch.
I (Steffi) came across Torsten as a photographer via Facebook. As my husband has a few problems with the English language, it was important for me to have a German photographer so that there were no problems with understanding. Torsten’s pictures also stand out because of the impressive photo spots that we also wanted to get to know.
The pictures are fantastic! Each of the 226 photos is unique. Not only the different locations, but also the different angles of the photos are fantastic.
Phew, will we even be able to decide? We particularly liked the variety of photo spots: Simply walking on the beach, climbing on rocks or conquering the washed up tree trunks – all the spots were perfect in their own way.
The sunset shoot was the highlight for us. The sunset was so incredibly beautiful despite the clouds. We also really enjoyed walking along the road next to the dead tree.
We stayed at Beryl’s Guesthouse for 6 days. Of all the accommodations in the Seychelles (6 in total), we liked this one the best! Such warm and lovely people, great location, super bikes and the best freshly squeezed juice we’ve ever had. A wonderful place to stay all round.
We were on Mahe, La Digue and Praslin. Every island is completely different. We found the south of Mahe incredibly beautiful, as it is so wild and untouched there. On La Digue, we really liked the feeling of riding a bike, rather than all the people in a very confined space.
Beryl’s Guesthouse on La Digue is worth it!
We wouldn’t visit the Seychelles again for the time being, maybe in 20 years for our wedding anniversary or something, but before that there are many other places in the world that we would like to discover.
We would do the same when booking rental cars on Praslin and Mahe. This has made us incredibly flexible.
If you take advantage of Torsten’s all-round support, the best day of your life can only become more beautiful!
Torsten is a very warm, funny, helpful and friendly person who makes every effort to organize the day according to your wishes and ideas. Torsten knows a thing or two about photography 😉, knows his way around La Digue fantastically well and has the contacts for everyone.
Have the courage! The decision will be the best of your life! Getting married alone gives you the opportunity to organize the whole day according to your wishes! You can’t forget the wedding memories, even with the great wedding photos as a memento.
The wedding was stress-free as everything was planned two days in advance. The process on site and subsequent recognition in Germany is very simple, so this should not be a hurdle.
