Today was another day just the way I like it: first I took the kids and my favorite wife to the fun pool, then I answered a few wedding inquiries (two of them for the Seychelles, the rest here in NRW), prepared the photo equipment for the photo job on New Year’s Eve afternoon and then sorted out the flights and accommodation for my next“honeymoon in the Seychelles“. Thanks to the contacts I have made over the years, I will again be spending two nights at the Lemuria Resort on Praslin after my wedding photography in the Seychelles. I’m really looking forward to the trip! It starts at the end of January!
But first back to the current year 2014: I have organized nine weddings this year in the Seychelles and once again had lots of lovely couples in front of my camera, some of whom I photographed completely new subjects. Especially on my favorite island, the wedding island La DigueI now really know every nook and cranny and know when I have to be where with the bride and groom in order to create exactly those wedding pictures for which I am flown to the Seychelles several times a year by mostly German-speaking couples.
I have been traveling to the Seychelles for more than 21 years now (in recent years at least 2-3 times a year) and have been passionately exploring every square meter of the dream islands since my first visit in the summer of 1993… 😀
The great Seychelles videowhich my dear colleague Markus Schneeberger shot about my work as a wedding photographer in the Seychelles, you’ve probably already seen it, right? If not, please pour yourself a glass of Takamaka immediately, put some sunscreen between your nose and upper lip (the scent will immediately put you in the vacation mood, I promise! 😉 ) and then click here: The German wedding photographer in the Seychelles
Here in the blog you will gradually see many of the pictures taken in the Seychelles in 2014. I’ll also show you some of them at the end of this blog post. And the pictures of the first Seychelles weddings of 2015 will soon follow, as the first two Seychelles trips for the first half of the year have already been booked.
One of the many highlights of 2014 was given to me by my favorite airline “Emirates” on my trip to the Seychelles in October by giving me a free upgrade to First Class in line with the motto “Anyone can fly Business Class” ;-)! I’ve never sat in row 1 on a long-haul flight before – and certainly not in a “private suite”, as it’s called at Emirates. You have your own lockable cabin all to yourself and enjoy every conceivable luxury. I let the massage function of my recliner gently lull me to sleep and climbed out of the plane more relaxed than ever before in the Seychelles!
In addition to the three weddings I photographed during this trip, I actually had time to celebrate a little on La Digue with some of the staff of the STB (“Seychelles Tourism Board”), to do an “airy photo job” for the STB and later to have interesting conversations with extremely interesting people at the STB headquarters on Mahé… 😀
Immediately before the start of this “first class” trip, I only had four days to get the photo equipment ready and wash my clothes, because I had just returned from my photo mission “Dream wedding in Rio de Janeiro” back! The very first wedding I was allowed to photograph in Brazil took place at the foot of Sugar Loaf Mountain. What a backdrop! You can find some pictures of this great wedding here: Wedding Photographer Brazil
But now back to the weddings in the Seychelles: A few days before Christmas Eve, I received some lovely mail from Andrea & Gaston – one of the couples I photographed on La Digue in October 2014 (to be precise, they are the two you see at the top of the cover picture!) In addition to a five-pack of “Seychellois climbing socks” (little insider 😉 ), there was also an incredibly great poem that the two of them wrote themselves. I cannot and will not withhold this poem from you:
For Torsten
There has been a dream for years,
There was hardly anything else for us,
than a wedding in the Seychelles,
between rocks and turquoise waves.
There should also be pictures of the most beautiful day of our lives.
Photos that no one else can take, shot by Torsten our “PHOTOMAN”
We got to know you over dinner,
We won’t forget that in a hurry.
We laughed and you could already see it,
that we get on really well.
From that evening on, we realized that having you was wonderful.
The wedding ceremony on the beach, the perfect day,
more beautiful than you can say.
Tears in her eyes, happy,
true love – without a doubt.
Together forever and never alone,
You captured every moment for us.
Climbed on rocks, wind blowing the dress,
fantastic view for miles.
Astonished faces, nice people,
We have never been as happy as we are today.
Fantastic pictures – along the beach –
We drove home in the sunset.
A great dinner – the wedding night –
We woke up at 4.00 am.
Then cycled through the night,
to the most beautiful sunrise we have ever seen.
Warm light on the white beach,
infinitely happy hand in hand.
But one person always led the way, Torsten our “PHOTOMAN”
You were ready with your camera at any time of day.
Walked through the jungle, climbed rocks,
everything to get the perfect photo.
We enjoyed the view with our eyes,
She was about to take our breath away.
Then came the best part, jumping into the pool,
simply crazy and mega cool.
Breakfast together, Takamaka in a glass,
We had a lot of fun with you.
Thank you for this great time
and pictures for eternity.
Gaston and Andrea
I’m now rubbing the tears from my eyes and wish you all a great and above all healthy 2015!
Finally, I’ll show you a colorful mixture of pictures that I took in the Seychelles and Rio de Janeiro in 2014, which is now coming to an end. Maybe you will like one or the other.
